I've seen several posts re clutch problems. Has Toyota offered any help here? We have a 2000 5-speed and have had clutch problems for 2 years: pedal does not come fully up and there's an annoying sound when engaged & disengaged. We had a bushing replaced (worked for a week). We had the whole pedal replaced (worked for 5 weeks). The clutch itself works fine but we plan on selling it and no way people will feel that the clutch is OK with that loud noise. And, because pedal does not come back up to top, you have to nudge it up with your left foot if you want the cruise control to work. I sure don't want to have to replace major parts. But again, what has the mfr. done about this? Seems to be inherent in the 2000 4Runner. Thanks for any info you have!

Joe- I recall several posts over on Yota Tech regarding the spring itself for the clutch pedal.
I'll try to find you a link real quick:
okay I googled '4Runner clutch spring' and found this one from this same forum which seems to refer to the bushing that may have already been done for you:
