2000 Toyota 4runner SR5 3.4L

I am trying to drop the engine out of my 4runner because it was wrecked and the body is not salvageable. The engine still runs just fine, and the transmission and drive shaft are in good condition as well. The rims are still good, even 3 of the tires are still good. I would like to drop the engine and transmission out. I dont have a cherry picker, although i have heard it is very easy to rent one. I think i have all the other tools i need, i have very little experience with engine mechanics. I think i am mechanically inclined enough to learn though. Can anybody offer me any suggestions about how i could learn to drop the engine and transmission out of this car without paying a professional to do it for me? .. and if/when i drop the engine and transmission out, what should i do next? should i sell the parts? or should i buy a rolling body and drop the engine and transmission in and start rebuilding?

It might help if you post what area you in and you might even have some offers of assistance. Also post pics of the truck. You mentioned the body is totaled and depending on how it might affect the removal.

Post lots of pics. You may get lots of offers on various parts.
You can start your own mini salvage business. You'll be surprised what obscure parts people need. Especially interior parts. Rear axle certainly if it is a locker. What's the mileage, color, etc.?
Someone might even buy the whole donor vehicle and you won't need to lift a finger.
