First of all, I'm saddened how my girl came to an end like this. Some teenage idiot driver pulled out in front of me off the highway and I t-boned her. I probably hit her around 25 - 30 mph.
To make a long story short, the other vehicle's insurance was not in effect at the time of the accident. I did not have full coverage. So, the vehicle is likely totaled.
I need help deciding what to do. First, I had thought about paying to have it all repaired rather than looking for another vehicle. The deal breaker would be if the frame rails/front structure is bent badly enough that repair is not practical?
The second option would be having it sent to a junk yard and get weight for it and purchasing another vehicle. I wouldn't imaging getting more than $300 for it. Maybe I could bargain with them. They're going to make a lot of money on interior parts and possibly some mechanical parts. To be honest, I'd love to get another 3rd Generation 4runner. I found one, but it is a 1997 with 323K miles on it. It has a new transmission. He says it doesn't use/leak oil. He has over $13K in receipts for repairs and replacement parts since 2007. He says there may be an alignment issue because the steering wheel is not straight. I'm wondering why he just doesn't get an alignment first before selling it.
The third option would be storing it somewhere myself and selling parts myself, which is time-consuming. I do have time, though. Just need a place to store it.
The 2nd row seats are in very good condition.The panels are in good shape, too. 3 of the 4 wheels are in very good condition with recently bought Cooper tires. 4 recently bough OEM wheel caps. A/C control head works great. Lightly used OME springs and Bilstein shocks in the rear. Waiting to see what's salvageable under the hood.
I'm attaching some photos of the accident. Feel free to post your sympathy lol, or better yet, maybe someone out there would need parts or buy it straight out to part out.
