2000 tr4 cruise control and tail light trouble

Im a new member and im having trouble with mt brake lights. When i turn on the cruise control the indicator on the dash blinks and the cruise wont work so i figured out the fuse was blown for the brake lights. Replaced the fuse and all was well. A few days later i tried the fuse and the same thing happened. Replaced the fuse again and everything seemed to work. This same problem keeps happening and i started using the cruise light as an indicator to wether or not the brake lights were working. If i turned the cruise on and the light was blinking my fuse was blown,if it didnt blinh the brake lights where working. Now if i need to put a new fuse in it blows right away whether i touch the cruise control or not. Not sure where to start looking for this problem. Could use some advice if anyone has had a simmilar issue. Thanks!

Do you have a trailer hitch and light hook up. If you do, it is quite possible that the converter box (Trailer lights) has crapped out or you might have a short in the wiring going to the stops lights.
