2001 Fuel Tank - Replacement Part Options (Spectra, Dorman, and Liland)?

Check out Post #2 of this thread. I was planning on doing the pencil eraser trick (or similar) to clean off the sending unit.

While I think cleaning the sending unit contacts with an eraser is worth doing if the fuel tank is already out & have a functioning fuel gauge, I don't know how effective of a repair that would be if your fuel gauge isn't working. I've cleaned the sending unit contacts on 2 different 3rd gens as an attempt to repair the fuel gauge & it didn't work both times. If you're fuel tank is out & your fuel gauge isn't working, I'd definitely recommend getting a new toyota sending unit instead of cleaning the contacts as a repair attempt.

That's what I did. Since the tank was coming out I bought a new filter sock, pump, and sending unit. I'm sure the one that was in there was original and I'm coming up on 200k.
