2001 oil filter question

I just sold a 2001 and bought another with less miles.
The question is about the oil filter location. I think the first truck the oil filter faced toward the front of the the engine? The truck I own now the oil filter faces the driver side wheel well? Am I mistaken on the first 2001? ANyone have a picture or diagram? Did they change the oil filter mount later? OR did someone replace this engine with a different year?

got me a bit confused-in 01 the engine choice would only be the 3.4 V6 I do believe.

so no I don't see how the oil filter location would have changed. My 99's V6 oil filter location is near the drivers wheel well also.

So if you went from one 2001 Runner to another 2001 4Runner they should be the same...perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are asking.

My 01 is on the drivers side wheel well towards the front pointing up at an angle.

My '95 T100 ( same engine ) has the oil filter at drivers wheel well, which is in the same location as on my '97 4Runner, as is the same location as my '99 4Runner.

I don't think they changed the location.

I could almost swear that the other 2001 had the filter in the same place but was pointing toward the radiator. Maybe it was the way I was turned underneath when I removed the filter. I know I could see the ground wire with oil on it from the filter dripping oil on the old 2001. I didn't even see a ground wire/strap on the new one. Could this be what is giving me a shock everytime I get out of the truck?

That is probably your a*s on the seat and the relative humidity.

Replace that ground strap ASAP if it's missing.
