I have an '02 with the 3.4L V6 that has recently developed an erratic idle and difficult starting. Prior to this occurring I replaced plugs(NGK dual electrode)/wires(NGK)/complete tranny flush/all diff oils replaced/replaced thermostat/cleaned maf. There are no codes in the system. Once the truck starts, typically it will take a bit longer cranking the stumble to a start, it will idle anywhere from 450 to 1000. Sometimes the truck will fire right up and idle perfectly, other times it sounds like it's going to stall in D. At stop it will idle low, wait a couple of seconds and begin to creep up to a proper idle.
This truck has the drive by wire system that appears to be working correctly. Throttle body is a bit dirty but appears to be functional. The truck runs at speed perfectly, getting 20.5MPG on the highway.
Last night, after the truck sat for several hours, I hooked up my scan tool, IAT temp read 91, outside temp was probably 70. Engine was off but that seemed an odd reading to me. Coolant was reading 102, top radiator hose was still slightly warm to the touch.
I'm somewhat stumped...
