Need some advice on a new 3rd gen purchase. Currently have a 97 runner with a replaced engine but unfortunately not sure what the miles are that I've owned since 6/2011. Body has 193k. I can tell the engine wasn't cared for as well as it needed but since it was my first 4runner purchase and I badly needed a car I bought it and has done very well! Has an oil leak and even though it's not the nicest it runs strong. I want to purchase a new one. I found a 2002 but has 265k miles. Seller had it for a year and they are stating that the previous owner was their boss and they took excellent care of it. Only saw exterior pictures and based on those it's VERY nice. So I'm hoping the engine and interior were taken care of just as much. I was hoping to get some advice. Could I reach 400k plus or would I be staring at an engine replacement pretty soon? Since my 97 wasn't in the greatest condition and this 2002 looks like it is I wanted some opinions.
