2002 Tacoma PreRunner

My wife has a 2002 PreRunner, 4 dr, 3.4 V6, and is wondering just how long most of these last? She just did the 90K service, it looks great. thanks

Keep up with regular maintenance and I wouldn't be surprised to see 300K + miles.

I had an 02 pre runner that I bought with 70K and drove it until 180K and had zero issues.:reddance:

My 2004 has 120,000+ and runs like the day I bought it my Friends 2003 has 280,000+ and runs the same. These motors are really reliable if they are maintained I would hold onto it it's probably just barely broken in by now lol...

Sitting in my 2004 4x4 with 207,306 and still running strong. I've heard of the 3.4 lasting over 600k.

I had a 2004 Prerunner and sold it in 2010 with 130,000+ miles. No issues at all. Wish it had been a 4x4.

A 1st gen Tacoma will last 300k mechanically if it's maintained. Photo bucket won't let me share images but my son's visually perfect 2000 Tacoma frame failed at 230k miles. Crawl under and check the leaf spring hangers and the shock hangers. The frames rust from the inside out. There is a recall and they will replace the frame it if the truck is under 15 years old. It's worth taking it to your dealer for an inspection IMO since you are right at the cut off.

My wife bought her's in CA,now we live in the Oregon mountains. It is lifted like a 4x4, but she also wishes it was real 4WD.

If it was 4x4, i wouldn't have sold it. Was a great truck for sure.

Now i have a 4.7 4Runner and hope it lasts as long as the 3.4 engines.
