2004 4Runner Cargo Cover not rolling up all the way

I have a 2004 4Runner Limited V6 4WD. In the last week or so the cargo cover doesn't want to fully retract into its enclosure, like an old window shade that doesn't want to roll all the way up.

Does anyone know if the spring tension in this device can be adjusted to make it roll up more reliably?

The parts department at my local Toyota dealer looked it up and said the good news is it is still available but the bad news is that it is over $900!!

I tried row52.com but it didn't find any parts for my vehicle.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know for sure but I would think the spring is not adjustable.

That being said, these come up for sale somewhat often in the Classified forum section, many have never used it and they just have them sitting in their garage or storage unit.

You can also find them used on eBay from time to time, usually they are asking $100 or so, sometimes more.

You may want to post a"Wanted" ad in the Classified forum section, be sure to specify the color.
