Vibration at 900 RPMs after timing chain replacement

Good morning folks,

Long read but trying to provide all the info I can. I'm dealing with an 04 4.0 2wd 4Runner with 410k on the clock. 3 or 4 years ago I did the head gaskets including resurfacing the heads and a complete Toyota timing chain set up, had a P0012 that ya'll helped me work out. Since it had 350k+ on the clock then I kinda bought my wife a newer one and since this one was so reliable I kept it as a nice parts runner (deal with a lot of muscle cars). Any way enough history, fast forward 4 years and 60k more and it blow a head gasket again due to me pulling too big of a load too far ( I actually think it was because I didn't replace the head bolts when I was in there last time). So I tore it down again and sent the heads to the machine shop, warped had to cut I think .006 they said. Reassembled with the 60K chain and guides and tensionors and upon fire up had a pretty distinct and concerning vibration at 900 RPMs, fine if I raised the idle. I pulled the passenger valve cover to check my marks cause I actually had a little concern of the setting (that's the side that seems to be split the difference not the exact line up side). Pulled the fan and belt to make sure it wasn't external but no luck. I looked on the net and can't find anything specific to what I'm experiencing, checked the archives here didn't find anything related. The net did mention the balance shaft being out of sync but from my understanding the balance shaft was not disturbed by anything I did, I can't even confirm 100% the 4.0 has a balance shaft. Running back through the process in my head and the only thing I can't distinctly remember is torquing the chain idler gear, although I can't imagine I neglected that but it will haunt me now that I question it.

So with all that said I'm ready to pull the timing cover and check my set up, is there anything else I should be looking for? Not a novice but not overly experienced with Toyota 4.0s.

Thank you in advance for any advice, Kevin

Bump to the top, if this is in the wrong forum can a moderator please move it.

Thanks, Kevin

I'd check all the things that seem silly first before going as far as ripping the engine apart again...exhaust and engine mounts, maybe a data read to see if an injector is slightly out of spec or something, it would be more apparent at low RPM.

Thank you

Also it might be worth getting an "automotive stethoscope" if you haven't got one, they need a bit of getting used to, even a healthy engine sounds like a bag of spanners with one  but can help identify where noises are coming from. They're really cheap online.

Vibration (feel)not really a noise but yes have used broom handles and screwdrivers to the same effect over the years.
