2004 4Runner still on OEM Panasonic battery

Cool thread.

I'm at 130k miles on my 05 4runner still on the original panasonic battery.

I was told this was normal as the panasonic battery is a very expensive badass battery.
 
I was looking at batterys this weekend thinking I should replce mine before it fails.
I have an '03 with 159,000 miles. I was thinking that the previous owner had replaced it once but after reading these posts, I am thinking it is original.

If its in a white case and has Panasonice written on it, it's original.
 
I've a 2004 w/56k and no signs of it dying yet either!! I'm going to Canada from NYC in a couple weeks so I may switch it out for peace of mind. Any recommends ?? Sure wish I could get the same Panasonic

For my 2003 (we have "his and hers") I went for the Toyota OEM (probably a Penn-State but who knows). It has the identical specs as the original Panasonic and looks great with the Toyota labeling.

Optima Redtop 34R. (R - Reversed post) It is physically smaller but has 800 CCA, 1000 CA, & 100 min reservse capacity. It fits prefectly with no modification with the Height spacer it comes with. I have this in my 04.

I replaced my OEM Panasonic battery yesterday with a Red top. The local parts store only had the 34 non reversed, so I just replaced/lengthen the negative terminal. I fully charged the OEM battery and had the shop test the old battery and it was only charging to 400 cranks. She did good from the cold Maine winters.
 
My 04 4Runner has 60k miles on it. The OEM battery is low on water so I add 1/3 of a gallon of distilled water. Voltage was 12.39V before adding water, will check voltage again a couple of days later.
 
Mine has 68000 miles and there is indicator on top of the battery which is still blue. Will add some distiller water the moment it turns red.
 
05' sr5 with 106k still with original battery and still going strong. Even after leaving my map lights on with the rig off to work on it haha.
 
2003 V8 4wd

The last 2 times the dealer said I needed a new battery when I got my oil changed. I declined. It just keeps going. I just looked- Original Panasonic battery!! almost 10 years? crazy. I almost want to just keep it going so I can see how much longer it will last but I dont really want to be stranded...

same here, '03 V8. 200k miles, New England, non-garaged until this past winter. still going.............
 
i have 05 sr5 with 81k miles. still the panasonic. i used it at the drive in movie for 4 hours (engine off) for the radio and it still started and worked. i'm just afraid at some point, i get stranded somewhere.

You have a drive in theatre around you still? I thought those things were long gone. I miss the drive in! Hope you got to make out with some hotty :cheers:

We have one too in Mendon, Mass near where we live and also near our camp in Bridgton, Maine.

Haven't been though since Talledega Nights. Come to think about it, that was using our trusty Panasonic battery too. As mentioned above, 9 years/200k miles, still going.....
