2004 4Runner Tires (Recommendations and Advise)

Hi All,
I am out to get a set of new tires for my runner. Size is 265/65R17 (current). I need an all purpose tires. Please recommend brands and online shops I you know of an online shop that has a good deal? I just found the Bridgestone Dueler H/T 840 at http://www.firestonecompleteautocar...firstName=&lastName=&tireQty=&tpms=1&stdopt=O. My budget is $600.

How much off-roading (if any) or driving in snow will help recommend a tire.

Very little off-roading...will be driving in the city during winter so normal city snow covered conditions.

I will be in the snow and ice a lot going up to Mt. Hood but I also offroad a bit in the summer.

Whats your budget? If you don't have one, Michelin Defender LTXs would be my top choice for light offroading and all weather conditions.

Do you care about the aesthetic of the tire at all?

If you want an AT tire cause they look better (IMO), you could go for a Falken Wildpeak AT Trail or AT4W (both do quite well in winter and I am in Edmonton, AB where we get DUMPED on with snow all winter with -30 degree temps).

If you would rather a tire more suitable for snow and ice, I couldn't recommend the Nokian Hakka line more. They are by far the best snow tire that I have ever used. But then you would obviously need a second set of tires for spring and summer.

I went with BFGoodrich Train Terrain T/A. In 265/70/17, I think they cost me around ~$950 including mounting and balancing. After installation I immediately took the 4Runner on a 10 hour trip to Road Atlanta and noted that are quiet on the highway and channeled away water well during the torrential downpours I encountered. A month later I went skiing in the Poconos and had zero issue driving through a foot of fresh snow. Seems like a great tire all around, and looks great on the 4runner.

I ended up with the KO3s. Almost perfect. They look great, work amazing in snow and ice so far, 0 road noise. But I think I could have gotten better gas mileage with a less aggressive tire and gotten the same performance.
