2004 Rear Main Seal Replacement

I have a 2004 Limited model that has 112,000 miles and I just noticed a very occasional drip that as I have found out is coming from the team main seal.
Curious as to the repair costs associated to the replacement of the seal - AND - what other items should I have replaced and or receive maintenance on when the transmission is removed for the seal replacement?

I might try some high-mileage formula oil and see if you can't slow it down/stop it.


A leaky rear main seems to be fairly rare on the 4Runners of this vintage. I have no idea about costs other than to say it's fairly labor intensive. If it were mine I'd do a front seal on the transmission too. Most of the labor will be done.


The good news is with an auto trans a little drip doesn't hurt much.
