Just an update on the 4wd problem I was having. The tech went to install the solenoid/actuator assembly and had some difficulty getting the old one off according to the service advisor. The tech called Toyota tech line and they informed him that the transfer case has to be pulled apart in order to replace the solenoid/actuator assembly. Guess he didn't bother to read the service manual, since it explains the complete procedure. Anyhow, Toyota tech line told him to replace the complete transfer case assembly. I sure hope this is a brand new unit and not some junk remanufactured part. I'm picking it up tonight and will let you all know if it fixed the problem. Seems like Toyota might know something about these transfer cases that we don't.
Sometimes I wish I could fix this thing myself and just have Toyota provide the parts for free. Maybe, I'm just too picky about how my vehicle is worked on. Then again, maybe working in the dealership business and seeing what technicians do or don't do to customers cars, SCARES ME!! It's not like the days when a MECHANIC took pride in working on your vehicle and fixing it correctly for you. What I'd give to go back to those days when people actually cared and gas prices were a hell of alot cheaper.
