2005 4Runner Sport Edition 4WD V-8 Salsa Red Pearl

After waiting for ten months my new 4Runner finally arrived!

I had originally ordered an 04 Sport V-8 in Silver in June but in September I decided to change my order to an 05 in Salsa Red. Of course, then it turned out that the V-8s would be delayed until January. So I waited some more.

Finally, I got the call March 30th that my car would be arriving the next day. After getting all ready to go get it I was told that they would not have enough time to get it prepped so I would have to pick it up on April 1st (April Fool's Day). I was suspicious.

Lo and behold it was there. At the dealership it had become an urban myth that the car had actually been ordered. Apparently, one of the big problems is that they don't normally come in a Sport 4WD V-8 with side curtain airbags in this region.

Yesterday, I went to the tire shop and had the tires changed to Revos in 265/70 and turned around to black walls. Anyway, here are some pics - go to http://homepage.mac.com/ohairs/4Runner/

Koz, you are right. It is horribly ugly - that is why I couldn't conceive of letting someone else have it. I would feel bad if they were made fun of

I will now officially say for the first time--I should have waited for an '05 in Salsa. I love my color, stratosphere mica, but that Salsa is awesome.

Still a pretty rare color around here but the Salsa does stand out when you see one;nice choice.

Looks real good! Have not seen many in this area in Salsa Red, and each time I've seen one, it's on the go and haven't gotten a good look at it. So your pics definitely helped...liked it more when you swapped the tires! Enjoy!!

I would like to hear what kind of MPG u end up getting with the new VVT-I in the V8.

Well I just hit one thousand miles on a trip back from Mammoth and the best I got at mild highway speeds was 15.0.

It is still in break in period and I was not using the cruise control. The sticker shows 16/19 mpg. With the change in tires I expected a little difference. Hopefully, it will do a bit better in the future.
