2005 v8 4wd 5100 kit selection

I have a 2005 V8 4wd 4Runner with stock suspension. I would like a slight lift but still have a bit of rake to the front, maybe 1”. I don’t want to go over 2” because I don’t want new control arms or a diff drop, etc. Any recommendations for a 5100 kit with the correct springs? I’m trying to get a better understanding of the OME springs. It currently measures 33” in the front and 34.75” in the back to top of wheel well on the outside. I would prefer a quick strut.

Was also contemplating the KVB quick struts but I don’t think that will get me there.

What is your primary reason for wanting the lift? Just the suspension is worn and want to get a little higher when replaced? Planning on bigger tires? Planning on off-roading?

188k on it now. Factory suspension is shot. P265/65/r17 on it now. I just think it would look better with a bit more lift. I might go up a tire size when these are shot.

i agree, it will look better with a slight lift whether you are planning for any other mods or not. I went with 4600s, '07 FJ springs and a 1/2" spacer in the front. The 5100s would eliminate the need for the front spacer.

I’m thinking 5100s all around. For the front OME2884 and the Toytec super flex RCC2.0-P in the rear. I thought about the OME2895E but it’s quite a bit stiffer. Having a hard time figuring out how this will all sit with the v8. I want to put BFG265/70/r17 on it and not have it rub at all. A positive rake is fine. For sure no more than factory rake.

Alright. I’m thinking a more modest lift. Thinking OME 2883 (883) and wheeler T12 in the rear with 5100s all around. Looks like the wheeler T1 would work in the front. I think any taller will look dumb with 265/70/r17s. Plus I’m hoping the shorter lift keeps me out of needing new upper control arms.

Best option is to get 4 corner 5100 only and set it at 0.85 setting (second notch from bottom) and assemble the strut yourself. KYB strut top is dirt cheap and you can get it at Autozone, and then you can rent a spring compressor. Plus, this way you don't need to get the trim packer to adjust the port side lean because OEM springs accomodate the lean already. You don't need to wait for lift to settle to get an alignment either, since your 20 year-old springs are more than settled. You will get a German car like plush ride, while having better handling. Literally best option.

I have 2883 with dobinson C59-505, and 5100s. I feel like 5100s are really designed to use with stock springs, even the 220 lb/in rear coils are too stiff. I can imagine with stock springs the ride must be wonderful.

Preload itself doesn't make it ride worse, it's the increase control arm angle.
