I'm trying to keep up the maintenance on my wife's 2006 4Runner SR5 4x4. It just hit 80k miles. At 75k when I took it in for service the mechanic tried to sell me on a belt replacement as well as a fuel system service. I don't remember what belt, and to be honest I'm not really sure what different belts need to be replaced at what mileage. I just took it in for an oil change at 80k and they didn't try to sell me anything additional this time. Perhaps it was because I got there 30 minutes before they closed, who knows. If they simply checked and noticed that nothing needed to be done this time, that's fine. But, if they just overlooked it because they were In a hurry then I want to take it back in to get it serviced. What service items are recommended that I do at this time? I've had the transmission drained and flushed twice. Other than that, nothing but brakes, tires and oil changes. We probably plan on keeping the car another year or two.
Any advice for this newbie would be appreciated.
Also, I know dealerships aren't the most economical place to take a car. However, we both work a lot and my dad has always gotten burned by bad mechanics. So, I don't have the time (or knowledge) to do much on my own, and I'm willing to pay a little extra if I know the work is done correctly
