2006 Tow Question

My friend's car is dead so we're trying to take it to get it repaired. I have a 06' V8 4WD. I believe I have a 7000 lb tow rating, so I should have no problem putting the car on one of those uhaul flatbeds and tow it right? I should also keep in 4HI and leave in 4th too as well correct?

wikipedia page says for the 4th gen: "Towing capacity is 5,000 lb (2,300 kg) on V6 models and 7,300 pounds (3,300 kg) on RWD V8 models (7000 pounds w/4WD)"

You shouldn't have any issues towing it. Keep an eye on braking though. Keep the tranny out of overdrive and take your time.

You'll be fine. I towed 5600lbs of trailer, car and gear 300 miles from sea level to 7000ft. Like ebg18t said, keep it out of drive and in 4th gear.

Are you talking about a flatbed or a car dolly? Two different things.

The flatbeds are much much heavier. With a car on one of those you will be inside your legal towing capacity, BUT, you'll want to go slow and keep plenty of distance since you don't have a trailer brake controller.

The dolly is lighter and will be easier to stop so not an issue there either.

I used a tow dolly for tons of cars on my 06 tacoma (lower towing capacity and only a v6) and never had an issue. I towed alot of heavy lexus's (GS and LS) and jeep cherokees.
