2006 with vibration, questions

I have a 2006 Limited 2wd 4.7 v8 4runner with 191k bone stock.

In the last few days it has come up with an issue I cant pinpoint. I can feel a vibration when driving only when on gas, accelerating or constant rate of speed. Let off gas it goes away. Put it in neutral is goes away. Its getting worse.

I'm going to pull it apart today but I dont know where to start looking. I'm guessing driveshaft or rear? Any common issues here?

Same exact thing happened to us. It was the torque converter. If you drive the car in "4" instead of "D" you won't have the issue. Try it. However, at some point you'll have to decided whether to address it or not because if that thing goes out, bye-bye transmission. I tried additives some others mentioned and it never worked and I was afraid it was just a bandaid on a bigger issue. We finally had the torque converter replaced. Cost us around $1000-$1500 but while that may not be affordable to a lot of people, we bit the bullet because it sure beats a car payment.

It does same thing in "4" or "D".
 
When I pull driveshaft I'm sure I will loose transmission fluid. How do you add it on a this car with no dipstick?

Not much info out there on 2wd ones

There's a fill plug on the passengers side of the transmission, it's the same on 2wd as it is on 4wd, but knowing how to check the proper fluid level is a must, too low or too high and it could cause issues of not shifting correctly.

There are several topics on the forum on how to change, fill and check the fluid level.
 
elongated lug nut holes

I suggest removing your wheels and looking at the lug nut holes.

I had the same problem for some time. i did take it to get a realignment and they said it didn't need any adjustment. The vibration would be intermittent. after getting new tires, it seemed like it got worse. i thought it was the tires, so i had them re-do the balancing, perfect with out adjustments.

i dealt with it as i stated it was intermittent and my tire wear was not being affected. i just got used to it.

after a few years, i decided to upgrade to a new set of wheels. After i got the same tires mounted on the new wheels, the vibration was non existent, "NO Vibrations At all". not even intermittent. I then looked at the factory wheels and noticed that the lug nut holes were elongated, in an oval shaped. Im guessing it was the constant accelerating and breaking that these wheels had taken in a matter of years.

The aftermarket wheels use a different lug hole design with lugs, if the correct rims, lugs, and hub centers are used, they are self centering and in my experience solved my vibration issues.
 
So jacked the back of truck high as I could and removed the DS and did not loose any transmission fluid. Replaced the u-joint (PITA) than put it all back together and while I was there changed the rear diff fluid. Did feel that the rear diff took more fluid than it should have by about 1/2 quart but its full.

Runs great, no noise no vibration.
