What yrs are a direct fit for the 2007 4runner? I want some blackout style taillights but don't like the ones for the 07 any older years that I can use?

Your 2007 uses the 2006-2009 LED taillights. Prior to that, they were incandescent bulbs for the brake lights/park lights. The LEDs are far better looking, in my opinion. You could go backwards, but why? Your other option is aftermarket, but the general opinion is that those are pretty hit and miss.

I'll take your tail lights if you decide to go a different route. I want to modify some OEM LEDs.

As for fitment many of us pre-facelift 4th gens swap out to the face lift tail lights all the time.

I know I did. It's crazy how such a quick and easy mod made the tail end look so much better.

looks even better in person.
the lights shaved 5 to 20yrs off the car,....lol

Those are sweet, thanks for posting!
So I installed these yesterday and ended up swapping the stock ones back in for the following reasons:

1) the backup lights would flicker sometimes instead of the turn signal. The wiring must be off on one of the lights I got. But regardless that's ridiuclous.

2) the plastic inset that the bulb connectors go into was of shitty quality. Meaning, the connectors would barely twist in properly or they would go in too easily and then get loose causing the corresponding bulb not to come on.

Totally disappointed. Loved the look.

Thanks for the feedback! Maybe the quality has dropped like a lot of imported stuff lately. Have you contacted the seller?
