2007 Tundra V8 has 381 HP!

Thought some of you might be interested. Over on RV.net there is quite the hub-bub about the new Tundra. This is like the 3rd thread recently, and each has produced over a hundred responses.

Those boys get all stirred up about their trucks!

Wow. There are so many wrong statements in that thread I had to stop reading. Like the HP vs. TQ arguement, where do these guys get this stuff?

There was a post in there (pg. 3 - 4th post from bottom) where some Ram lover tried to assert/calculate that the new 5.7 is going to have less torque than HP. You should get on there and comment that Toyota's V8's have always had much more TQ than HP. I'd expect the new 5.7 to have well over 400 ft-lbs of torque. Probably more like 420...yummy

Yeah, there is always that stuff going on, and even more so if you try and extol the virtues of a "rice burner." I caught a lot of flack when I first started posting about using the 4R as a tow vehicle. Now that's died down a lot, as several of us have shared good experiences with the 4.7 (as long as the hitch is appropriate - anti sway, WD).

I did post to say the 4.7 has an incredibly flat torque cure, and that the 5.7 might be the same.

You jus' gotta know how to talk to those good ol' boys over there! I regularly do a search on "4Runner" on RV.net, just so I can get my two cents in on any thread discussing same (and keep 'em stirred up).

Like I've said: 4R is a great tow vehicle - with the right setup, and if you don't have a large payload to haul.
