2010 RAV4 fuel door rubbing when opening

My wife and I just purchased her a new-to-us 2010 RAV4 Limited on Saturday. When checking it out at the dealership we popped the fuel door with the lever to make sure that worked, but didn't open it all the way. When we went to fill up the car the fuel door will not open all the way. Thankfully it will open just barely enough to fuel, but not a hair more. The left side of the fuel door is rubbing the body (the inner portion of the frame of the filler area). Has anyone on here seen something like this before? Is it possibly a trend? If so, is there a known fix?

Seen this before on other threads, I want to say the spring is broken thus making it misaligned. Mine has been like that, but it does open, however it "skims" the edge when the fuel door is completely open. Very annoying. I've also heard that the hinge/pin can be adjusted to bring it to alignment.

this is an issue with 4th gen 4Rs. i just smeared some grease between the door and the body and BOOM no more halloween haunted house creaks.

Good to know. I just used some moly lube and it worked fine!
