That sounds like a good idea. I would have to get a couple more crossbars and find a way to turn my Plano and maxtrax 90° to fit a rotopax up top.

I guess then it's $80 per rail. It doesn't specify.
It says "crossbar" not crossbars.
I ordered 4, 2 aluminium and 2 steel. I'm only running 3 right now because the way i intended to mount my solar panel, ultimately i mounted it differently and never remount my 4th crossbar. I should do that tonight.

Spent Labor Day with my family at our favorite nearby spot, The Land Between The Lakes.
We started the day checking out the Elk and Bison grazing area. You pay $5 per vehicle to drive through this huge pen that has a paved loop through it. They say don't get out of your vehicle if the animals are within 200 feet. We never saw any elk, but these bison are huge and despite their lazy demeanor, they can be aggressive. My boys thought they were so cool. I thought, "Mmmm...bison burgers..."
From there, we decided to stop by Turkey Bay, the OHV park. I beat on our 4Runner pretty good there. I was sure I dented my aluminum skid plate, but it seems to still be intact. Smacked and slid on my sliders, too. I'm thankful for ATRAC, otherwise I'd probably be stuck in one of a few mud holes. Most other people riding those trails were on ATVs. We saw one Jeep and one Hummer H1 on what had to be 40s.
Some poor fellow forgot his bumper.
We stuck mostly to the primary (read: easy) trails with a few exceptions. I don't have any footage of the hairier stuff we did...the tougher trails are so incredibly narrow, there was no room for my wife to stand to film us. Here's a primary trail:
The kids still thought it was awesome.
After bottoming out in a couple mud pits:
From there, we aired back up and headed to our favorite beach.
Man, am I going to have a mess to clean up.
Trip stats
Total distance: 242.3 mi.
Trip MPG: 17.1
Stuff broken: nothin
Not bad for 90 min of highway each way and the rest of the time spent in 4Lo.
I also have to say, people forget how capable the SR5 platform is. I have a very mild lift with minimally aggressive all terrains aired down to 22psi. I went through a couple spots that other people at the park thought I was crazy to do. I was walking a mud hole planning my way back through the other way after coming through it once already. A guy on an ATV saw me looking at the mud pit with my 4Runner behind me and said, "I wouldn't do that if I were you. You'll get stuck for sure." I told him this trail ends behind my 4Runner, I already made it through once, and I have to go back through to get out of this dead end. He sat and watched, and I know he was expecting me to get stuck. I kept speed up and let ATRAC do its thing when I started losing traction. Got through no problem. Smacked my aluminum RCI skid plate a few times going through it, but no dents!
Not looking forward to the time it's going to take to get all the mud out of the undercarriage. We had a fun day, though!

Well, we just had to go back. This time, we bought a dispersed camping permit so we could stay overnight. The forest roads were a bit worse (which just means more fun!) this time. It’s probably due to the massive amount of rain we had earlier this year. Lots of washed out ruts, collapsed parts of the road, and ever-deepening mud holes. We had fun getting to a secluded camping spot.
The 4Runner has never been so loaded down. Instead of the 3 planos across the cargo area, I condensed our gear down to two planos and a cooler that is basically the same size. Perfect fit yet again. We also had 5 camp chairs, our camp table, 5 gallons of water, three fishing poles, two kayaks (which were strapped down on top of my MaxTrax and rooftop rifle case that holds my recovery gear), paddles for both, backpacks and sleeping gear for five.

We stopped here, played, and paddled around...
...and then set up camp around the bend.
And of course we did a lot of fishing. Didn’t catch much. It was HOT.

It’s been a great run...
...but I traded my 4runner in on a Tundra CrewMax Off Road. Three kids, a dog, kayaks, and all our camping gear was just too much for the T4R. We were too cramped. I will miss it though; I can’t say enough good things about a mostly stock SR5 with a 2/1.5 lift. That vehicle went anywhere we wanted and never stranded us.
I tried to talk my wife into driving the 4Runner and letting me trade her Yukon in on my truck, but she likes her giant GMC too much to let it go. Oh well, at least we’ll have one vehicle that will keep me on my toes. Just a couple weeks ago, it had a rough idle, random loss of power, and electrical system issues (dash lights, door locks spazzing out). It finally went into limp mode and threw a code (misfire in cyl 7), so I replaced all the plugs and wires and while the plugs were out, I shot the cylinders full of ACDelco upper engine degreaser and let it sit while I took my youngest to his soccer game. Came back, installed the plugs and wires, and started it up. It belched thick white smoke out of the tailpipe for almost 30 minutes. But it runs like a top now.
I immediately bought a Range AFM disabler to keep it from going into v4 mode (I suspect that’s why cyl 7 was so gunked up).
This has been a great forum; I have benefited multiple times from seeing someone’s writeup on how to mod or maintain their 4R (often that someone went by the forum handle [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION]). I’ll probably still check in every once in a while and look at the various adventure threads I’ve subscribed to as these experiences that we all love are not vehicle-specific. Y’all take care!
