2013 T.A.Co MOAB Gathering (may 29-june 2)

My main thing i am trying to get in before moab is getting a rear locker

I'm like 90% sure i will be there. Probably won't get there until like Thursday or Friday though.

My list before then:
Install crawl box
Elocker axle swap
Install UCA's
Plate the rear part of the frame.
LT the rear.
LBJ's and a timing belt should probably get done.

I've got quite a bit.
-CB
-Spare CV's (Hopefully can find some at Pick-N-Pull for $25 each)
-Tow/Snatch Straps
-33's (Either find a 4th or might get a complete set)
-Install Jlee's Elite bumper and modify BudBuilt
-Hanma 3x3 lights
-Extra Fluids
-Figure out a spare tire carrier option
-Possibly replace LBJ's

That's the short list, but I should be able to get most of the stuff. I'm sure there will be other stuff, but I can pick that up as I go. I'd love to get/fab a rear bumper before then, but I doubt it will happen.

I didnt have a locker last year and didn't get stuck once on the trails I ran: poison spider, golden spike, gold rim, or 7mile hil.

Yeah I know you can do it without it but just makes it that much easier. I guess I just have a preference to be locked. Ran a heep GC with a spartan locker and the difference was night and day.

This is true, the locked guys made stuff look so easy! Havnt really taken the new elocker offroad yet so hopefully I don't get TOO overconfident :moon:

Lol yeah for some reason a slight bit of overconfidence comes with lockers at first. Looking forward to meeting all you guys down there.

I had the e locker in my tacoma but only used it when it was needed I always like running as much as possible open first, helps to learn to take good lines

I am a firm believer that lockers are overrated.

Not to say they aren't totally sweet and awesome. But they are overrated. These vehicles are plenty capable open/open.

Ha, Jeff.... I love the new signature. I love the open/open mentality tho. I like the idea that the lockers are just for "escapes"

Thats definitely the plan. Get as far as I can open open, im just saying I hope I dont try stuff thinking "oh if I get stuck I can use my locker" and then be f'd becuase it was to intense for that even.

There were guys that had their locker on the entire trail and I just didnt understand why.

I would have to disagree. I believe I am more capable with my automatic locker than I am with all the other mods that I have added to my vehicle so far. It allows me to go slower, not use momentum, and pick my lines more carefully. However, since it's an automatic locker I don't have the ability to turn it on when needed. I just try to be cautious in approaching things realizing I don't have a backup plan of being able to turn on a locker.

I'm confused. You disagree that the 3rd gen is plenty capable open/open? Cause I have tons of pics and videos that beg to differ.

I'm not arguing that lockers don't make a rig more capable. They certainly do to an extent. But an open/open 4runner is plenty capable.

The one downfall of the full time lockers is sidehilling, especially in snow. Its a deathtrap!
