2014 alarm help

The OEM alarm on my 14 T4R is acting up. It goes off randomly a few minutes after I lock the car.

I swapped the stereo out completely a long time ago
I installed an aftermarket remote starter 18 months ago

Anyone know how to either reset the alarm or disable it altogether?

Is this a dealer/port installed alarm?

Well, not much help from here.... I disconnected the battery last night and left it disconnected overnight. The alarm has not gone off today as far as I have been able to tell. Parked all day at work and for about an hour or so at home and she's been quiet.

Yeah those alarms are dealer installed and there are a lot of different ones. Good luck and unfortunately if you have problems you will have to go to them.

Interesting twist to this story.

Brought the car into the dealer on tuesday. They took one look and said that it was not their alarm, that it must be part of the aftermarket remote start.

Brought the car to the shop that put in the remote start, turns out the remote start does not have an alarm. It's just a remote start. They pulled it out (free of charge, Zippo's in NJ is awesome) so I could bring it back to the dealer and have a good discussion with them, and away I went. They will put it back in free of charge when this is resolved.

Got home, looked at the original window sticker on my car, it does NOT have an alarm. Within 10 minutes of me getting home, the 'alarm' starts going off.

Called the dealer again and am bringing it in on Monday morning. Turns out what is going off randomly is not a ghost alarm, it's the Panic functionality that makes the horn go off and turn signals come on and off. :wtf:

Go figure. Will see if the dealer can fix this.

You sure the remotes aren't getting triggered? Just wondering here, but I'd pull the remote batteries out too, just to see if they are causing the alarm to go off, especially if you're absolutely sure its the panic function.

EDIT:

Oh yeah, you can also have the dealer turn the panic function off using the TIS programmer, IF its the toyota alarm.

Well, the keys were on my desk in my home office when the horn started up. The challenge is that it does not always go off. I might pull the battery out of the key, but how will i know if that did it?

Will definitely ask them to turn off using TIS. What is TIS? Thanks for the tip!

This happened to a buddy of mine. Drove him insane for 2-3 months trying to figure it out. Brought it to the dealership 3 times before they figured out his wife had set a smoke alarm on the floor in the back to remind her to get a new battery for it. It ended up sliding under the front passenger seat and getting wedged up deep under the seat and would randomly start blasting whenever someone was sitting in the passenger seat. Everyone got a good kick out of it at the dealer when they finally found it. It's hanging on a wall in the shop.
