I didn't know about BAMF, a little embarrassed since they are located only about 15-20 minutes from my front door. Looks like I know who I'll be giving my business too!
I actually thought you were serious and started looking for a parts company with that name... Reminded me of the Schist audio company (Schiit Audio, Headphone amps and DACs made in USA.)
But I did eventually find the Bay Area co.
5th Gen T4R - Plasti Dip Door handles (Limited)
Has anyone plasti-dipped the chrome door handles of the 5th Gen Limited? I am wondering what it would look like and if you need to mask off the top for the keyless entry sensor or not?
I assume you would need to mask off the back, but there is also the sensor on the TOP of the front door handles for locking the car.
I just got a 2010 T4R Limited in Magnetic Grey and looking forward to getting rid of the chrome. I used to have an all black 2001 T4r Sport so loving this 'new' one.

Does not appear to be a limited so I'd say no.
I have plastidipped the handles on my limited. Not enough plastidip gets behind to interfere with the sensor to cause any issues. You can see pictures of it completed here and how I taped everything off.

If anyone has concerns about the dip staying in good shape, get some of their clear coat and throw a few coats on. I've been using the clear coat for a while now and it keeps the color from fading and makes the dip stronger to protect against bugs or the such. It also gives it a nice shiny finish instead of a flat, cheap looking plastic finish.

I was interested in how the clear coat works over plastidip thanks for the recomendation. Do they only have gloss or is there a matte option too?

Hey [MENTION=107460]Magnetic4R[/MENTION], I just purchased a 2018 Limited. I have been searching all over trying to figure out the best way to black out the chrome pieces like you did. I also purchased those Raptor letters and ready to install. First, how did you mount the Raptor letters and did the mounting hold up? Second, did you remove the front grill to mount the letters and paint the chrome. I know you don't have to remove everything to paint or plasti dip but I have a feeling the process while more time consuming would be better/cleaner in the end.

That’s my former silver 4Runner a few posts up. I’ve moved on to a GX now and I’m ironically dipping it as we speak.
If it makes you feel better to remove the pieces, by all means, go ahead. I’ve never removed anything and have never had a need to including on the new truck. It’s turning out great and I’ll be using the glossifier again to add that clear coat look and some shine. I fully expect it to last for years again as it has in the past.
Plastidip now offers a more advanced dip that is basically an all-in-one that gives you a gloss finish. You could always go that route too and save a few steps.
Don’t, and I mean, DO NOT, use the Rustoleum vinyl wrap spray. It seemed similar to plastidip and is high gloss so I thought I’d try it. Massive mistake. I had to remove all of it just to use the dip I should have in the first place.

I actually laid the high gloss vinyl spray I mentioned over the base of the plastidip and it turned out ridiculously good. It looks way better than just putting the clear on. We’ll see how it holds up.

No removal necessary. I used 3M tape and it held up well.
