Front Bunper Trim removal

I have a 2016 limited as part of getting rid of the front chrome pieces I picked up replacement black trim piece the one they fire right below the Toyota emblem. However the below piece that’s in the photo I cannot figure out how to get the chrome one off the bumper.

Do I really need to drop the bumper to remove the old piece? Is there trick to removing these? I almost contemplated cutting the old one and breaking it off and installing the new but now sure what it looks like behind and if I’ll do damage to the fastening mechanism for the new.

Any help is appreciated!

I think that piece is just like an over lay with double stick tape & fits over the chrome. Not sure of the chrome piece is an overlay you have to see of the new piece fits over it, if not look close at the chrome section it might be an overlay with double stick tape also. You can do a vinyl rap cheaper and easy to remove if you want to go back to chrome

Hi, my OEM piece isn’t an overlay, it’s an actual chrome piece. I want to remove this part.

The piece I purchased also is not an overall, no double sided tape it actually fastens in.
