for those lucky enough to actually get the "DK" option (which I think is the pleather/leather pouch) covet these as Toyota no longer includes these in new Toyota's.

I went to the dealer a while back and went thru all the show room floor vehicles and not one 2014 had the leather pouch. even the tundra 1794 didn't have one, but at least the glove box has a separate section squared off to hold them.

luckily I found very brand new 2012 Tacoma leather pouch on ebay for $10 + $5 shipping.

if you have a pouch you like make sure you keep it when/if you switch as you may no longer get them, unless a dealer goes 3rd party and add's this as a nice perk.

I will be making sure I transfer mine new pouch and the warden's pouch to the new vehicle if/when I get new Toyota's.

edit : forgot to add, it may be just my region (Kansas City) that no longer include this perk, ymmv.

but the question is, did the regional Toyota include it or was it added by the dealer.

my dealer didn't include one since it didn't come from Toyota or the regional Toyota.
 
Are you talking about the pleather/leather holder that is monogrammed "Toyota" in the bottom of this picture:

Because that's just a thing that we sell through the parts department? Usually most of the vehicles come from the factory without a holder, I believe some sales people throw them in as a special option, sometimes they get added as per dealer policy, I'm sure if the window sticker says it it might get thrown in at the factory. If you guys want I can see if I can get a part number for it? I bought one for my 4th gen, they're so awesome! :D
 
Haha. If I started a thread about reading what's inside that cover I would get like, maybe 3 views and 1 reply. The views would be mistakes and the reply would be spam.

Its great, isn't it? I sure as hell rather be complaining about this than complaining about having to walk a mile to carry back polluted water only to find that the dingo ate my baby.

My 2011 did not come with one but I use the one from my old 06. It looks nice, does the job but I'm still not reading the manual no matter what 1E says ;)
 
I will gladly trade in whatever owners manual pouch I have and stick all of its contents in a big zip lock in exchange for a decent set of interior light bulbs.
 
NoDak - I'm aware. My point is Toyota could have spent a few pennies more and given me what I should have had from the get-go w/o me having to fork over more $$.
 
the problem with that is the cost. a complete replacement for me was around $120 before they raised the price by $1 per pack/item. (vleds.com)

even at Toyota's cost of say 1/2 that roughly, say $50 per vehicle, your looking at a lot of money and this is a low volume vehicle since the 4runner is only north America unlike the prado.

$50 x 20k vehicles = $1mil dollars, and bean counters love to cut out money outlay anyway they can.

edit : to add, and that would encroach on the lexus gx460 I assume. a lot of variables we don't see determines what does/doesn't go into a model.

So you want bright lights and I hate bright interior lights. Toyota gave me what I want and apparently most of the other 50K/yr people who bought it agree. It would cost Toyota nothing to re spec if there was any real demand. I would like red LED's for my map light but I think I would be in an even smaller minority than you are lol.

I suspect there is. Note the doc NoDak pointed to and all of the other LED threads on this and other forums along with all of the WEB sites that sell bulb upgrades.

I do agree with your comment about it costing Toyota nothing to re spec.

You actually think that there were 25K LED interior light kits ordered for a 2013 4Runner? I don't either. Even here I would guess no more than 10% of us enthusiasts (that make up maybe 5% of the owners) ordered interior LEDs. So that would make it maybe 250 people. Still worth selling to a vendor but a small small part of their business.

Never said I thought such a thing. You're putting words in my mouth. I pointed out an interest in LEDs by members here and elsewhere. I have no real idea of who would or would not want them and neither do you. I suppose you'll next start a poll. Go for it.

Toyota saw fit to provide better lighting in many of their other vehicles. Too bad they skimped on the 4Rs.

I'm going to the Jeep forum where people have real reasons to gripe.
