2014 SR5 Factory alarm problem

The alarm keeps self activating after 30 sec of the key being taken out of the ignition. No matter how many times I press the unlock button, the alarm keeps self activating.

Not a big problem you would think. But it seems like it may be a big PITA when camping or fishing the beach at night.

Is there a valet mode button?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Highly doubt that is the factory alarm, most likely a port or dealer installed garbage. Being a 2014, it should still be under warranty, take it back to the dealer and tell them to fix it.

My dealership tried to put in a $60 Wal Mart alarm and charge $599 for it. I made them take it out and give me the money back. They even went so far as to have "Toyota Alarm" stickers printed to try to fool the customers into thinking it was a ... well ... Toyota alarm.

Please post the name and town/state this dealership is located in. This goes way beyond the usual upsell BS that car dealers engage in.

I'm not sure I want to go that far since they did take care of it right away and didn't give me any crap about it. Here's a picture of the sticker though....

Not sure about that, that seems to be about the status quo. You should see some of the disgusting hatchet jobs Gulf States Toyota does to their vehicles before passing them off to the dealers :puke:

I've seen them and you are right....Toyota quality has declined considerably. Doesn't matter if it was botched at the factory or the port(Gulf States-SE Toyota Dist./etc.) What the buyer sees today does not resemble yesterdays build quality.

Some people may not be aware that neither Gulf States Toyota or Southeast Toyota Distribution are owned/controlled by Toyota. This results in the hatchet work mentioned by Jeremy556.

Go to Wikipedia and check it out for yourself.

Curious if theres a tech stream option to have the alarm activate when keys removed. Lots of options in there maybe different ways to set alarm? Just my .02
