.... how bout now??

Who else is excited to try the new Morimoto XB LED headlights on their 4Runner?

XenonDepot will be the first to offer these for pre-order in the US. While it's a bit too soon to say, we think they'll start shipping around mid-summer.

They'll have triple LED based projectors, a full white LED daytime running light, and a amber sequential turn signal. PWM DRL compatibility of course, and completely plug n play on our trucks.

Estimated cost to be around $1000-$1200/set, all in!

**subscribed** These seem pretty nice, and a nice upgrade from stock.

Yeah, LED's do generally run much cooler than an incandescent or xenon setup, so most vehicles with OE LED do have washers to clean the front of the lights when its snowing out. But these dont run completely cool, each projector has its own die-cast heat sink, and those will definitely get hot when the headlights have been on for a while - so the ambient heat inside the housing will certainly be far more than the outside temps when its cold out.

We'll keep everybody posted with updates as we have em though. Right now the best ETA we have is sometime in June this year.

If I can brainstorm out loud, I assume the Acura rl/mdx/rdx and the likes all have headlight washers
Chances are, not many are on the road during snow storms.
Mostly leases too (maybe only 50% have snow tires), so if it's gunked up, they'll take whatever they have and start scraping the shit out of them. Next guy's problem.

There’s just one flaw in this theory, the DOT is not going to approve any headlight system is not safe at all driving conditions.

Mr. Nuts,

On one hand you'd be correct if we were in Europe - ECE regulation mandates that any HID or LED based headlight system be paired with a headlight washer too.

But DOT doesn't have such requirement. So if the light output is adequate, the turn signal is adequately far from the low beam light source (to create enough contrast) and the color of the sidemarker, turn signal, and low beam are within allowable spec...they will indeed pass state-side.

I hear the temp thing a lot. I have lived in northern Ohio for the last two years and I think only once I can remember my headlights and fogs getting covered by ice and snow. I would think a coat of wax or something would probably eliminate most of that build up from happening.

I would also be interested in a group buy.

Curious about the question someone else asked about using the caps that we had to drill through for HIDs. If this new headlight is plug and play, in theory, I'd just need to snag new caps and then these bolt right in/up?

Also, do you have any pics of the front end with both the driver and passenger side installed? I'd love to see a full on shot of the front end with both headlights.

Thanks in advance.

Any new info at all? Pics, performance details, dates, etc? I know sometime in June was mentioned, but anything more specific? Like maybe an early release.... ;-p

count me in. just picked up a TRD ORP and started researching lighting upgrades. was reading a ton of led bulb upgrade threads until i saw this one. i'm willing to wait til june to pick up a set.

There are rumors floating around that Morimoto scrapped plans for this headlight. XenonDepot can you confirm this?

We haven't heard anything like that yet from Morimoto. We know they just finished the last prototype for Tacomas and that headlight will start production soon. I think the 4Runners will come close after that and June sounds about right. We'll keep you guys posted!

I need these so badly. I almost had to stop and get a hotel room while driving last night because my headlights were so dim. I couldn't even tell if they were on...

I'd get a set if the price is below $300. $1,200 for a set of headlights is way too expensive.

BTW, I can't open the pictures link. The website wants me to log in to see the pictures.

I’m still wondering about the headlights being canceled. TRS has gone completely dark on these after just a couple of posts.
