2014+ T4R Tri-LED Projector / Sequential Headlights

Morimoto makes the bulbs and components

TRS is a retrofit company that uses morimoto products to assemble their kits

I believe the statement “morimoto is TRS” is false

It was about a month ago, and maybe I’m mistaken, I can’t find the thread. But there was someone displeased about the quality or misrepresentation of the name Morimoto, partly because there was an Asian looking person on their web site so they assumed it was an overseas company. I think they found out that they were made in Atlanta, pretty close coiencidence that TRS is in atl. They just bought out XD

Morimotos main corporate number is a LA number.

If you look up the registration info for the websites:
Xenon Depo and TRS are both registered to TRS in GA but Morimoto is not (the info is hidden unlike the other two.

So i'm still assuming Morimoto is the manufacturer and XD/TRS are resellers.

XenonDepo may be able to shed some light (couldn't help it!) on the situation.

Morimoto is the brand, they're produced in Taiwan. TRS will have them too...but we'll be the first to get em in the States!

Morimoto is making the headlights. Retrofit source/xenondepot are resellers.

MORIMOTO Trademark of The Retrofit Source LLC - Registration Number 3943477 - Serial Number 85078928 :: Justia Trademarks

I have been to TRS here in atlanta. Real great group of guys. Been dealing with them for years. There are big plaques when you walk into the place on the trademarks they own. So i think Morimoto is a trademark of TRS and Xenon Depot is going to resell them. who knows.

here is another link for the curious

Well that proves it then, Morimoto/TRS/Xenondepot are all TRS. Good to know! Thanks!

I honestly don't care which company is owned by what. I want to know what the quality will be of the finished product and what they will cost. If they are good quality and in the $1000-$1200 range, I would buy a set. If they are $2000+ I'm out.

I guess back on target....

anyone heard an update of when they are coming out? Only seen the original teaser pic and vid.

FWIW mesojdm got an advanced pair of these for the Taco and reviewed them here. i would bet the 4R lights will contain the same internals.

Thanks for sharing. I'm picky about lighting (maybe PTSD from the late 90s and early 2000s when tacky headlights became a calling card for ricers), and I like for them to look fairly OEM... these fit the ticket for me. The detail and shape could very well be OEM, and it doesn't look out of place or tacky. The light pattern is nice and the triple projector setup seems to put off much better visibility than stock.

While it's getting old now, these seem to go a long way towards improving one of the 4Runner's biggest challenges.

I agree, the design of these look great to me. however, like Meso, I wish they had more color. I have kustom54lighting built headlights with MLED projectors which i'm very happy with. Comparing light output only these would be a step down for me.

How long have you had the Kustom54 lights? Hard to find any real world reviews on them but I love the way they look and that they use a proper housing for HIDs.

I think I installed them in September, 2018. I can't speak highly enough of them. The light output is amazing, I was able to have them built just as I wanted, they came packaged really well, and install was a breeze.
