They stated their non serviceable in the post, so no bulb changes. How long do they last for 1200.00?

The guy who did the review seems to be a heavy modder. His last post said "I’ve done some good amount of night driving with them and they are good. High beam could use a little boost. For the average joe, these are the best off the shelf “plug and play” lights available. (Both output and design). That said, I have very high expecations so I will be modifying mine once I get the chance."
That's good enough for me.
Seems like I read they have a 5 year warranty??

So after five years, the new 6 gen, these become obsolete and you have to go back to stock? Think I can buy all kinds of bulbs for 1200 bucks.

This makes no sense. After 5 years the warranty no longer applies, they don't magically stop working and you have to remove them.

Last we heard, Morimoto sent out the the final prototype, basically production version, and it was great. No issues or anything! If that's the case, we're thinking in the next month or so, we should have them ready to ship! Will keep everyone updated.

Great question. These lighting units do not meet DOT requirements.
Sorry, but that is completely incorrect - and you know it.
First - DOT doesn't "approve" anything. A manufacturer must certify that the lighting unit meets all of the requirements of FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards) 108 - lighting.
Second - These lights don't come close to meeting the specs.
Third - If you live in a state that has periodic inspections and test lighting, then these units (and the car it is attached to) will fail.
Offering these for sale is a violation and the manufacturer/importer/distributor is subject to a fine for each unit sold and a mandatory recall.
And no, labeling something as "off-road only" doesn't help. There is no provision in the law for "off-road". If an item can be fitted to an otherwise conforming vehicle (i.e. a car that can be registered), then that item must conform to all regs.
This is actually a shame, because the current halogens are one of the things that keep me from buying one of these.

Axtually, the design is about as streamlined as it gets. The shape is that way to help keep the lenses clean and to help with wind noise.
