2014+ T4R Tri-LED Projector / Sequential Headlights

Apparently XenonDepot got their shipment in earlier than expected. Just got an email that my headlights have been shipped. Guess we won't have to wait till mid-August afterall!

I'll obviously be posting pics and thoughts once I get them installed.

Right?!

After reading this, I'll be sticking with my 50w HIDs until someone wants to mod these with better/brighter optics. These are cool, but my $160 HIDs are brighter and better throw.

Morimoto LED XB Headlight review | Tacoma World

Don't get me wrong, I love my hi-beam LED bulbs (with DRL drivers) from Xenon Depot. They're a great bit of kit and I've had zero issues with them, and they are nice and bright. Frankly I think reflectors are perfect for high beam drop-ins, as you don't need to control the beam pattern as much. And my Morimoto 2stroke 2.0 LEDs are much brighter with longer throw than stock low beams, so I'm happy using my stock housings.

But they are still not legal and, it seems, for good reason.

I believe Morimoto over you. (I think) they have more money to lose if they lie....right on Morimotos web site

Since we all know that DOT approves nothing (it is the manufacturer's responsibility to certify compliance and they can't in this case) we know that this is an incorrect statement.

Can you please link to that page? I'll be happy to resolve it directly with them.

No worries. Found it. We'll see what their response it. I wonder how they complied with the two year environmental test (they didn't) and the requirement that any replacement bulbs are of the same type originally fitted (they can't do that either).

If these units actually have DOT markings on them and they have not complied with every single requirement of FMVSS108, then they are looking at a huge fine and possible criminal prosecution. Ask APC

Can you wait 5 years to convict them? I want my warranty, thanks

I got tracking info from them, but so far not impressed with them.

First they didn't honor the discount.

Second they double billed my CC, and after multiple emails stating that they will take care of the double bill. They haven't done so. I'm pretty much forced to do a CC chargeback if they don't credit my account by today.

For those that plan on buying it later, I would buy from another vendor. If you do, buyer beware if you run into any issues with your CC.

I hope xenon depot, that you are reading this.
That's sad they didn't honor the discount!

at this point, i don't care about the discount, I want my 1grand that they are keeping in their pockets.

Have you tried calling them? See if you can get them on the phone and get them to refund it while they're talking to you. Then you can also see if they can retroactively apply the discount since it didn't seem to work while you got them there.

Most of the time, these kinds of errors aren't malicious so I wouldn't judge the company based on one point of anecdata. My entire transaction has been without issue.

i did call and they weren't open, or I'm at work and I can't call. So i sent a bunch of emails, and they responded to my emails with "yeah, we are working on it". or "the finance department said it is taken care of".

that was days ago.

I understand they aren't doing anything malicious, but come on, if you say you are going to refund the error then do so..... Now, if I have multiple emails stating they took care of it, and didn't..then I"m putting them on blast.

I'll give them the end of the day to do what is right, and i will take down my posts. If they don't, then the post stays.

Well I hope they get it squared away, I would be upset about getting double charged for sure.

Update...xenon depot has resolved the credit card issue, and they gave me enough evidence that it could have been my bank being slow to reissue the funds. So I will give xenon depot the benefit of the doubt, and say they are good to go.

And they ended up honoring dot tom’s discount too

Weird, they pretty much told me to piss off when I asked about honoring the discount. Definitely a garbage way to handle it.

The magic of shaming a vendor on social media.

Without these posts there would be no discount and you'd still be waiting for your double charge to be resolved.

Well I did have to put them on blast but I did promise that I would retract my original statement if they proved they did their part.

They are aware of this thread. You might want to push them again for the forum discount.

Obviously I’m not terribly happy on how they handled it initially either. Wish I didn’t have to put them on blast in the first place.

What is there to retract in your original post on this matter? Did you lie? Did you say anything that wasn't the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth?

Of course not. If I were the vendor, then I'd want this thread to stay as-is because any changes just beg more questions.

A post that says "we screwed up, we weren't very good at customer service, the customer complained, we fixed it and the customer is mostly satisfied now" is far better than a "they finally fixed it" without putting it into context.
