So, a month ago I purchased a 2016 SR5 silver, 4x4. Sticker was 37,100.

added OEM running boards.

A change in circumstance may dictate a sale.

What's a fair price that would move rather quickly? Thoughts?

Thanks (if I end up selling I will absolutely post in the classifieds).

$37,099???

I'm partially kidding, but the 4Runner resale is absolutely amazing. Sorry to hear circumstance might dictate the change. Realistically list for a slight discount and negotiate, I would have to think it could be beneficial for both parties.

Well, despite of when you purchased it, it's still a 2016, and has been registered by you, so they will be a second owner.

I just purchased a 2017 TRD Off Road for about $2500 under MSRP out the door, which is fairly common.

I would probably say it's worth around 4k-5k under MSRP at the most. I couldn't foresee anyone in their right mind buying a used, year old model, just to save $500-$1000 over a brand new vehicle, at that price point. To save $2k-$3k over new? more likely.

Keep in mind the vast majority of buyers won't keep their current vehicle through their six year loan and a couple grand doesn't really effect the monthly payment when they pencil whip the contract in the dealer finance office.

The person who is going to pay cash for a nearly new used vehicle isn't a person who is going to buy unless it's a great deal for them.

A good negotiator, under the right conditions can manage as much as 10% discount on a 2017 SR5. That's $33,390. So one of your competition is new at $33-35K.

You bought either a leftover or a demo, which could bring it down another $2K -- so a dealer with a CPO or demo 2016 will be your other competition at ~$30-$32K.

So, where do you have to be for a fast sale? $29-30K at the most IMO. The further you are beneath that, the better your chances. All depends on how desperate you are.

How many miles?

Just to give you some insight...... I'm in the OK/TX area. About a month ago I picked up my 2016 SR5 4x4 with 22,000 miles on it for just under $30k out the door. It was $29, and some change. It was a "certified" vehicle which gave it an additional 1yr/unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty on top of the the existing 3yr/36.

Edit to add..... this was the cheapest internet priced 4Runner that I could find with comparable miles from Houston to Tulsa. No matter the color.

Agreed. I just negotiated and purchased a 2017 SR5 Premium with sunroof, third row, and lots of extras for 12.5% under sticker price. Most people have no difficulty getting 5-8% knocked off, depending on trim. Your market and location play a big role a well. I'd think anywhere from 10-15% under MSRP would be a good starting point. Then be prepared for lower offers.

thanks for the input

It's a 2016 with 2500 miles.

If I could pull 30-31k on it, I would be happy.

Suppose I should post away.

Just for grins you should see what Carmax and the Toyota dealer would give you. KBB lists your truck at about $31k private party sale.

Keep in mind, you're going to lose a few thousand dollars right off the top no matter what even if you sold it today. I don't know how you bought the vehicle but if you financed it that's a few months of payments so you shouldn't be in a huge hurry.

Another data point:

This April I bought my 2014 Trail with 25k miles for $31,500. It was Certified Pre Owned, which is the 12mo/12k mile comprehensive and 7yr/100k powertrain warranty. It's a better warranty than buying new.
