That front end is terrible. Really doubt we will get it in the states anyways.

The black one looks fair. The white one is hideous. Hopefully the 6th gen won't look anything like that.

If they make the GX BOF, then consolidate the Prado and 4Runner into one model for the US market... I can see this happening. I hope it keeps the V8 and full time 4wd.

It'll look worse in the states if they put the typical Lexus spindle grille on it. The spindle grille is the surest sign of the apocalypse currently implemented in automotive design.
Everywhere but the US the 4Runner Is called the landcruiser Prado. I even have 3 current brochures I picked up in other countries for them (yes when I travel I go to Toyota dealers to have a look.....it habit).
This new grille trend is running deep in Toyota. They are making every truck and SUV look more and more like a car. One look at that Prado or the new Sequoia and it's clear. We have owned every Lexus GX model ever sold including the hybrid models. But this new one looks so much like a car (even though the grille looks good) we don't plan on getting it. And the nex Lexus TX.... Forget about it, the TX is supposed to replace the GX after 2017 (if you believe rumors) and it looks like a Passat wagon.

The 4Runner isn't called anything but the 4Runner. What is the 4Runner is only sold in markets where it's called the 4Runner (it used to have a JDM variant called the Hilux Surf).
The Prado is a Land Cruiser variant that shares parts with the 4Runner/FJC family, but has its own body, engine, drivetrain, and transmission choices, but variants of those have existed on the 4Runner and FJC. Lift kits are still somewhat interchangeable--but it's not a foreign market 4Runner with a different body.
If Toyota wants to keep up the BOF SUV game, and plans on removing as many BOF Lexuses, but keeping at least one Toyota BOF vehicle--the LC Prado and 4Runner could be merged as the Prado comes in low-end and luxury variants. It would take minimum cosmetic surgery to make the grille look like other Toyotas.
Of course Toyota corporate seems to know better and will probably just foist their own monstrosity on the US market--or drag out the 5th gen as long as possible before taking it out behind the barn and shooting it in favor of a 35mpg hybrid Obamamobile.

The current 4Runner is only sold in the US market. The Landcrusier Prado shares DNA with the 4Runner (same platform, I believe) and is rebadged for sale in the US as the Lexus GX series.
You are wrong on nearly every account. The 4runner is sold in more than just the US market. Other than the obvious Canada, the 4Runner Namesake is also sold in Taiwan and perhaps even more. As far as the GX, it is sold as a GX under both the Toyota name and the Lexus name in countries such as China. Other countries do get other drive-trains than we do, but the Prado remains relatively similar across most models.
When I,m over seas I see the bare bones Prado with NO bells and whistles and then I see them loaded with every option you can get on a GX in the US. I've seen Prados with GX, TX, LX, DX and even one in Yingkao that was GX470 branded. I think the Prado is far more of a global bastard than we know here in the US.
Toyota Prado is in India as LC Prado too..almost same as Lexus GX460..

No, I'm not. The only thing I got wrong was that I overlooked Canada as a market for the 4Runner, which was more of an oversight than anything else (sorry, guys!) since the Canadian auto market is basically an extension of the US market.
Also, a quick search of the Toyota of Taiwan site shows only the Prado for sale, no 4Runner - I don't know what you meant by "4Runner Namesake," but if you meant nameplate, that's not really relevant.
What you said is that the 4Runner is sold in other markets as the Prado, which is patently false. The LC Prado is sold in the US as the GX. Yes, it has more bells and whistles, but it is the same car, more or less. That's generally how rebadging works, by the way, how Lincoln charges more for a tarted-up Ford Fusion with different front fascia, etc.
I don't understand how you seeing the same truck in two versions (stripped down, and also loaded with options) proves your point, or disproves mine. The trucks you're seeing (GX and Prado) are the same other than their option specs, (possibly to include drivetrain changes). The fact that in China the Toyota and Lexus models are apparently sold alongside each other doesn't mean they aren't related.
Bottom line, what you said is that the 4Runner is sold as the Prado. Not true. The 4Runner (by any name) is only sold in the US...and Canada. As someone else pointed out, previous versions were sold in Japan as the Hilux Surf, but not the 5th Gen.
By the way, I've done my share of extensive travel in the ME & Asia (not China) and have driven LC's, LC Prados, and Fortuners.

Even more confusing is the fact that you're "liking" posts by others saying exactly the same thing as I - i.e., that the Toyota LC Prado = the Lexus GX series.

I am having a hard time following your post.
There is no "new Sequoia" and there hasn't been since 2007.
There is no hybrid version of the GX, nor has there ever been.
There have not even been any spy pictures of the speculated Lexus "TX" that is expected to be a three row CUV that could replace the GX.
Your photos show a Toyota Tacoma, Lexus RX 350, Toyota Highlander and Land Cruiser Prado.
To follow up on Bimmer Bob's comments, I think you may have some of your Toyota/Lexus SUVs confused?

The 4Runner is also sold in Peru and Argentina (at least it used to be). They are $50K and bare bones. Sucks. That is why I bought "Surfs" when I lived in South America.
I've been saying for years that it would cost Toyota practically nothing to re-badge it as a runner. i would think it would cost less than breaking out an entirely new vehicle. Anyway, who knows what will happen. The Prado is significantly bigger than a Runner and Lexus has confirmed it's going to a unit body construction SUV (next GX) to do battle with the Infinity JX. Another Toyota BOF truck is the Fortuner, but that badboy is very small. A rebadged Prado makes sense, at least to me. OF course, I'm talking out of my butt.
I figure we'll know in less than a years time.
Should be exciting.

The 5th Gen is not sold in Argentina (and never has been AFAIK). They get the Prado & the SW4 (which looks to be a rebadged Fortuner).
But it looks like the current 4Runner is sold in Peru! Apparently with full-time 4WD and LSD even on the SR5? No Trail model. Thanks for the info

4Runner, GX 460 and Prado all have the exact same 109.8" wheelbase, so a direct rebadge wouldn't change the 4Runner's footprint at all.
