Very true you never know what might arise in a persons life. I promise you the last few days in my home have been expensive and I am looking at ways to cut back this season.

Our refrigerator went out Thanksgiving Day and today my daughter went to see the doctor and they are going to start running tests to see if needs surgery on her kidneys to fix some issues she has had most of her life and prevent further damage in the future. That’s going to cost me a little cash even with insurance. Sometimes if you don’t know the whole situation it’s best to stay silent or show compassion.

If you are the individual that backed out - so sorry to hear about the situation you are in. To your credit you did touch base with the organizer rather than keeping quiet until Christmas day when your giftee is still waiting for the package to be delivered. Better to make minor changes to the list instead of disappointing a fellow T4R member on this awesome site. I feel like you shouldn't have to explain yourself for backing out but I wholeheartedly agree with you how others should show compassion instead of assuming something that's based off their wildest imagination. People just never know what others are going through so it is always a safe bet to stay quiet or show compassion.

In event you are the individual that backed out, I'm not sure if you posted in the Wish list thread already - but I would like to volunteer to be your Secret Santa so you are still not left out. This is entirely up to you - nothing is required on your end i.e. getting a gift for me so if you're interested, I can work something out with the organizer if you already exchanged shipping / wish list with him previously and go from there. It won't be anything insanely expensive but maybe there's a gift for you or your kid. Let me know

I’m still in and looking forward to SS but thank you. I have just been through the ringer enough in the last 15 years to know financial pressing issues can happen at the times that are the least convenient. So I have a bit of sympathy for people when the unexpected happens.

That was just my recent example to show things happen this time of year. my current situation sucks but I have been through worse and there are others out there going through much worse including members of this forum.
