2018 Calvary Blue TRD Pro going for MSRP...Does That Sound Right??

That's a shame. I made sure not to walk out until I had it in writing what my trade in would be. He said he could guarantee that value as long as nothing happens until my CB arrives, and it doesn't take longer than a couple months.

They gave me a really strong offer on my '064runner Sport.... but its a 4runner and tricked out with nice Kenwood Android Nav/camera and tons of upgrades. I decided to keep it and let my dad have it. I think you did it the right way, get a quote in advance of the day you go to buy your new rig.... once again you want to be holding all the cards if possible.

I should have done this before walk in to the dealer and also make sure you have your finance ready or tell them to match with the lowest rate you can qualify

One man's garbage is another man's... Anyway, to each his own. It appeals to me and obviously plenty others so there you go. If you haven't seen it in person then I might suggest you try to because no photos I've ever seen of a CavBlue rig do it justice compared to being in front of it in person.

I am a total 4runner guy but I was actually sold on the color when I first saw it on a 2018 TRD Pro Tundra at a local lot while getting my oil service. That Tundra looked super cool and the service guy told me the TRD Pro 4runner special color for 2018 was the same so I shopped it online and at first didn't believe it was the same color I saw on the Tundra, then I started watching Youtubes and looking at pictures and none of them were as striking but after I saw that first CB 4runner in person at the Bremerton dealer it was every bit as awesome to me as the Tundra and I knew hands down that's what I wanted. You may still not like it even if you have seen it in person but I hear the same as my experience from many.

Cheers JC

PS - I feel the same as you about the 2019 special color Voodoo blue which to me personally perhaps fits on a FJ but looks wrong on a 4runner. I'm of the opinion like many that they should have done the FJ green color next instead of another shade of Blue.
You're right I havent seen it in person and might feel different if I did.

My wife thought it looked horrible in photos, but just like the person above, she saw a CB tundra and was happy with my decision. I actually like it even better than the Cement Gray. Just have to plastidip any chrome on the truck.

As you can see http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-g...lue-4runners-lets-see-them-5.html#post3009169 I've already started with the plastidip.... do yourself a favor and use a $2 plastic dropcloth from Hdepot to cover the backside of the rig and avoid overspray.. otherwise PITA to get off those little rubbery speckles off the paint and window after!

Cheers JC

I bot my 2018 Cavalry Blue TRD PRO from Desmond at Lithia Toyota of Odessa (TX) for $2k under MSRP. It was a unique circumstance though... the GM was driving it at the time as his personal demo. I only wanted the blue and the salesman wanted the sale, so he sold it out from under him lol. Had less than 3000 miles on it but I got the discount as a demo/used vehicle, with new car financing, and to top it off, since it was 'used' they threw in the CPO extended warranty for free. It was a steal and I couldn't pass it up.

I also found one up here in Seattle in December same circumstances but dealer still wanted $5K OVER MSRP if you can believe it. Same deal as yours where owner was basically driving the rig around as his daily commuter and I asked whether that made it a used vehicle or demo or something. The sales dude said it was still being sold as new.... RIGHT, I think not.... nobody touched my rig and I got it basically right off the delivery truck with 1 mile on the ODO and test drove with protective stickers still on it before they prepped for delivery... that is new. OK 3-20 miles of test driving is still new but when dealership owner is driving it for weeks as daily commuter I think not. Perhaps if like yours they gave me couple thousand off MSRP it would be worthwhile.. but these guys wouldn't even sell it AT MSRP.

Some things never change.

Just picked up a Cavalry Blue 4Runner for MSRP. 1 mile on the odometer.

I've been actively looking for approximately 3 months for one; had a couple opportunities slip away for a variety of reasons, e.g., they wanted to let someone local buy the vehicle, or they would jack up the price when they realize you are a serious buyer, etc.

I'm in NYC; I didn't even consider any of the local dealers who sell mostly Limited models. Went with a dealer in PA. Hopped on the Amtrak at Penn Station and it was a quick 60 min ride to Trenton and then Uber'd it to the dealer.

In and out of the dealership in 2 hours, stopped by for a cheesesteak and back in Brooklyn in 1 hour 20 min. Great day trip!

Good stuff! I had to drive almost 3 hours to Rhode Island to get my Cement. If you want full paint protection (clear bra) let me know. There's a shop in NJ that does an excellent job.

Yeah, it's a lot tougher to get a good deal on a Pro anywhere close by.

If I decide on the paint protection, I will send you a DM.

Thanks.

After 2 months of looking and a 1 month wait I finally took delivery of mine from Carmax Laurel Toyota in MD. Super positive buying experience. This was an "allotment" purchase where the original potential buyer bailed and I was put on the list. Savings were minimal - c.$500 under MSRP - approx 47,500 w/tax,tags,destination, etc.... BUT .... worth it - sooooo nice and very happy with the purchase - and the color is amazing - I'd originally been angling for a white but this is awesome..Advice = not sure -- I had a great experience w/Carmax...seems most dealers honor MSRP...just try to get on the allotment list I guess (Carmax did not ask for a deposit and honored all promised accessories etc including some additions added at Port upon arrival from Japan. They also provided a VIN so I could track the vehicle.

Depends on where you live I suppose. Considering there was only one used Cav Blue TRD Pro in California when I was looking for a 4runner and it was selling for $5K over MSRP with 5K miles on it, you can only imagine what a new one goes for.

I found one on its way from Japan, they wanted $12K over MSRP, after some negotiating I got them down to $6K over invoice. I know it sounds like a lot, but here in LA, collectors will buy these up and keep them in their garages. It's a lot harder to get the exact trim and color combination that you want given how scarce the market becomes with so many rich SOB's walking around just throwing money at these dealers for rare vehicles. Given that only over 3,000 TRD Pros are produced in NA, in hot markets the dealers can just sit on them and find a willing buyer.
