For about $3k you can have your 4runner painted any color you want.
Where I live there is not a lot of demand for late-model 4Runners with $3,000 paint jobs! I guess what I am trying to say is spending $3,000 on a cheap paint job does not add a penny of value and most likely detracts from the value in a significant way.

Owned a trail, sold it for a PRO. Best decision I have ever made. Rented the trail for a year at $320 a month and sold it for 3k less than I bought it for, drove 19k miles and had it hit by a plow.

No KDSS option in the PRO so not worth it to me which is the best option across the entire lineup.. Add PRO badging to a TRDORP with KDSS and wrap it in whatever color you want for the win :hatsoff:

Who is being negative?? So having an opinion you don't agree with makes my opinions negative your world...Interesting.. And I basically have a TRD PRO...I have a Trail.

I didn't hate on the appearance package. I like all 4Runners. We all own a great vehicle. An again I basically have a PRO with out the appearance part, with out the special paint. I have a Trail which is the same as a PRO with out the price penalty. You guys are hilarious!!!

Ok I will explain it again. An almost $47000 PRO was posted. I paid $35000 OUT THE DOOR for my Trail. The PRO posted will also need tax, tag, and title paid on it.
Again IMO, if you are going to mod out a 4Runner it is smarter to not buy a PRO.
If you are not going to mod it out, i.e., replace the suspension, wheels, and tires, etc, you paid extra for, than it is smarter to get a PRO. And again, it's your money, spend it how you want to, I don't care. But at the same time I should not be flamed just because I have a opinion some here don't agree with.
It is amazing how badly some of the PRO owners get so butt hurt if you have a difference of opinion to them. I don't understand the anger and name calling but I don't have those issues like a few of you here do.
op2:Wally, it appears you are challenged when it comes to simple math and financial analysis, so let me add a few more facts that might clear up a few misconceptions you seem to have and keep you from looking like a fool all the time.
First, the MSRP of a 2018 Off Road Premium (ORP) is $39,895 and a 2018 TRD Pro (TRDP) is $43,075 resulting in a difference of $3,180. So Toyota is not "gouging," or making obscene profits on the TRDP based on MRSP. Now in certain markets it appears demand for the ORP is such that some discounting is present. From what I have seen on this forum an ORP can be had for anywhere between the low $37,000's up to MSRP. As we have all seen the TRDP is generally sold at MSRP with many sold for $5,000-$10,000 over MSRP. In my market I estimate close to 75% of TRDP's are sold for over MSRP. In my case, I bought a TRDP at MSRP where maybe I could have bought a ORP for $38,000-$38,500, resulting in a difference of about $4,500. Of course, this is a long way from $12,000, but we all realize you have some issues with financial analysis.
Second, I made the determination that a TRDP met all of the requirements that I have with respect to off road capability. After all, I have had a 2002 4Runner for over 13 years and have had no need to modify it in any meaningful manner. I also knew that to acquire the parts and pay someone to install them would cost at least $4,500 in my market. Finally, I have witnessed the amazing ability for TRDP's to keep their value, in fact, I could sell mine today for more than I paid for it.
Finally, you on the other hand have chosen to buy a base model and "mod" it to meet your needs, and that's fine. Of course, this is not the most astute financial decision. That is, you are not "saving money." As many have pointed out, the market will not attach any value to your "mods", in fact, they may even penalize you price wise for your "money saving" expenditures! In other words, discounting the pleasure and satisfaction you get from your "mods," you are no better off FINANCIALLY than if you flushed the money you spent on your "mods" down the toilet.
On the other hand, I bought a TRDP, have a financial background, paid cash and am not in the poor financial condition you are, and my butt doesn't hurt, so carefully consider/comprehend what I have written above before you post some foolish, unintelligible, response.
I got my Trail when I bought it for $34,000 out the door nonpremium and when I sold it got 31.2k for it. I bought my 18 Pro in Cavalry Blur for $42,000 out the door. That's and 8k difference between the two then factor in the price for the "leather" seats. Factor in Rims $1000, tires $1-1200, skid plate $500, valances $600, TRD pro Suspension $1500, Pro front garnish $600, plus labor/time to install all of it you are at $6,000 for the pro package. You need to also take in to account that you don't have a PRO Vin which is a huge deal and the reason people are paying the prices for Pro's that vin gives it better resale since they are limited runs, also the year specific colors are sought after.
It's simple supply and demand, a product is rare and people will pay for it. Just because you can make the same thing for the same price does not mean it will have the same value, yes you saved money but if you ever go to sell it you won't get nearly as much out of it. There is nothing wrong with modifying a Trail/OR to look like a Pro but honestly in my opinion it's a giant waste since it will never have a Pro Vin.
Keep going around touting that what you did is better and bashing Pro owners because yours cost $3,000 less but I guarantee when you go to sell you won't get a return like a Pro has.
