2020 4runner - Drive start control malfunction, braking power low, ABS and PCS issue

hello, i can't believe i'm getting this error on my dash. tested the truck and the braking seems to be working fine, however the ABS seems to be not functioning. i tried it in 2wd while the car is on ice, ABS don't work. placed it in 4wheel drive, it works fine but not in 4low. i've seen some threads and they ended up getting the abs system replaced. anyone had this and what fixed it?

3. ABS malfunction
4. precollision system malfunction

i can't believe i fixed the ABS related issue on my 4runner. it seems like a software glitch on the system. when those error show up, the truck is drivabable except the abs system stopped working and the 4wheel drive system still works for 4h and 2h but not 4L.

while i was driving earlier, i tried pressing the brake with my left foot while i'm pressing the gas to accelerate and suddenly all the error disappeared. i tested the 4 wheel drive system, 4H, 2H, 4L, atrack, traction control and downhill assist started working again. i tested 1 wheel on ice while in 2H and the ABS worked also. if you have these errors, can you try these fix and let me know? there must be something that must have been done with the braking and gas pedal to activate those malfunction. now it's fixed. i wonder if toyota is aware of those issues.

Is everything still working? I forwarded this potential fix to my service advisor and he said he forwarded to the tech. We'll see.

yes, drove a few miles this morning to do some errands. everything is back to normal so far. i'll post more in here if it comes back.

by the way, my wife was driving it when it happened after that ice storm. told her to put it in 4while drive - 4H then it happened and called me.

i don't know why when she drives it and our other cars, all kinds of crazy stuff happens. I'm not going to let her drive my 2020 4runner again, lol!

I will unhook the gas pedal wiring and spray the connector with an electrical cleaner.

I also noticed when I was driving it yesterday, got a message the radar cruise control turned off and turned back on.

We've been told the ABS module they ordered for our 2020 4Runner likely won't be here for another 1 to 4 weeks. That puts the truck potentially out of service for well over 30 consecutive days, potentially 40+ days. I have little faith that the ABS module will fix the issue either. We may be pursuing a lemon law buyback if the module doesn't fix it.

Also, they didn't try the brake pedal/gas technique I asked them to try.

many 4runners have rodent wiring soy material .. now back in the old days petroleum has wiring insulation ..

I spray silicone on the wiring harness and I use peppermint oil spray in in the bottle ..

my 4runner 2016 had rodents in the eng area and now it is no rodent issue.

many on runner forums put pictures of rodent wiring chews.. toyota dealerships cost 2500 bucks ..

Do you have upgraded headlights (LED or stronger halogens) or Pro LED fog lights?

i did not do any mods on it besides the spare tire alloy rims and toyota camera a year ago.

There was another post from another thread who tested what I did and confirmed it fixed his 4runner who's been with Toyota for a month.

I'm here. Just loaded it up on a tow truck, unfortunately. Didn't get to test it myself, and now headed to Mexico.

Basically all vehicle manufacturers switches to more environmentally friendly soy based insulation like a decade or more ago... so friendly the environment eats it up!

As for the "fix" that's interesting... I wouldn't have thought to use the brake override feature to try and reset the module... will have to try that if I ever run into the issue you guys have. Would have liked to see what DTCs it set...

i'm quite surprised too when i fixed it. as of today, the problem never reoccured. no dtcs showed up. maybe it needs a more advanced scanner. i did not find any chewed up wires. drove it more than 4 hours away and back a few times and all good for now.
