2020 4runner started making a squealing noise

my 2020 4runner with 300 miles on it started making a squealing noise that only happens when the car is in motion but doesnt happen all the time. I went to the dealer today and no one could figure out what the noise was after playing a video I made of the noise. of course the noise didnt happen at the dealer. any idea what this could be?

My only guess is possibly brakes? Doesn't sound quite like a brake pad that is worn down with that little metal thing that is supposed to squeak to warn you your pads are worn out but seems to maybe be slightly similar. Maybe something metal is rubbing against the disc brakes? Weird.
 
It's hard to tell from the video, but I concur it sounds like brakes. Or at least related to wheel rotation.

If you drive it for a while does it go away?

If you car sits for a while you will get rust on the rotors pretty quickly. Drive it a bit and the rust wears off and the noise stops. So it's possible that once you got to the deal the rust was gone and not making noise?

thanks for the replies. There was a lot of talk at the dealer about the cause being the brakes (among just about everything else because so many people got involved). The noise actually seems to start after the car has been on for a little while. I heard the noise, came home parked the car, asked my girlfriend to drive it up and down the street so I could hear from the outside and the noise wasnt there. Something happened again a few days later. I dont know how or why turning the car off might effect something? but both times I've heard the noise has been after driving for a few miles at low speeds max 35mph. ive only been driving in the city
 
If you tell which corner it's coming from, pull the wheel and see if a rock doesn't fall out. That was the culprit for me once.
 
thank you for all the responses. The sound came back and I was able to get my girlfriend to drive the car and capture the sound from the outside. I think its pretty safe to say the sound is coming from the drivers side rear brake. Link to what I captured below.

After watching that, my money is with the dealer folk saying something brake related. Maybe parking brake?

Who knows. You have a warranty. They’ll figure it out. After like 3 trips and god knows how much of your time.

LOL. THIS is exactly what will happen. I was there for 4 hours today and looks like I will be going back tomorrow.
 
day 2 at the dealer and they have no idea what the noise is and insist it isn't the brakes. They put me in a loaner. and sent me on my way.
 
My 2020 TRD ORP does this after it's been sitting for a little while. Once the rotors and pads heat up it goes away. Has 2k miles on it. I think it's just a shitty quality pad Toyota uses though. The squealing noise is horrid. Sounds like a NASCAR car after running a race. :wtf:

So I was finally able to drop it off at the dealer and they put me in a loaner for a few days. they said they still didnt see anything wrong with it but after I insisted they take the rear left brake apart and look for something, anything, they finally did. I've had my car back for a few days now and haven't heard the noise again. I am convinced they hit something when I asked them to swap the tires when I purchased the 4runner and what ever they did was fixed when they disassembled then reassembled the brake.

Glad the sound is gone but sheesh, nice trouble shooting skills by the dealer. Mind telling us which dealer it was? Just curious.

My 2020 also did that all winter. Thankfully it stopped right before i hit 5k miles. Haven't heard it over the last 1k mile, but temps have also warmed up so it'll be interesting to see if it comes back next winter. I've bought 5 new vehicles over the last decade and have never had another vehicle do that. There are worse problems but one doesn't expect their new $40k+ vehicle to sound like an old beater with worn brakes. Thankfully no other issues and I plan to keep this vehicle long term.
