I used the search engine, but didn't find anything :/

Is the dream of a 2020+ screen retrofit into my 2015 still a possibility or has it been shot down ?

thanks !

My guess is no. I've been looking into this myself as well, after a failed Alpine Halo9 install and not liking the head unit either.

This is the PIN out for a 2014 to 2019 4runner stereo harness.

it probably is possible , just rewiring some pins? The 2021 OEM led headlights were just a pin swap change to retrofit into a 2017. I wouldn't mind trying this but would probably need to a wrecked one to pull head unit out. I'd like to get apple car play at some point.

Looks like an opportunity for someone to develop a direct swap harness for us electrically-challenged folks

It's probably doable. I've done some harness retrofitting for an overhead console build and it was relatively straightforward. That was without any pinouts either, just manually figuring out where everything went.

If we could get an awesome pinout sheet for the 2020+ headunit like the one posted for the 14-19 one, that would make things super simple.

The one other challenge is figuring out part numbers for the various connectors. Easy if you have everything on hand, but 10x harder trying to do it from pictures alone. And I'm not going to spend $1k+ on a 2020 headunit just to find out one of the connectors is NLA or custom.

Even if you could, probably better off going with an aftermarket unit due to costs. That's what I did and have no regrets. I have a Pioneer NEX8400 with wireless Carplay and Android auto and we love it.
