2020 T4R 5G TRD Off Road Premium: Tire Pressure Display - Spare Wheel

Hello folks.

I was reading the manual to learn about tire pressure indicator on my 2020 Premium and it indicated the spare tire pressure indicator is available if equipped as such.

Should I expect a premium model to be equipped with a spare tire pressure sensor? If I have one installed in the spare (if it does not have one already), would the dashboard display the pressure? It is kind of mysterious how it would even be set considering for the main wheels you would have to drive the car at certain speed for certain distance in order for pressure data to be provided to the computer. How would one do that with the spare!

The easiest way to tell is to drop the spare and look. It's good practice if you haven't done it yet. If you have a steel rim that doesn't match the other rims (like my SR5) it probably doesn't have the sensor. I think the most important wheel to have a TPMS sensor is the spare. Toyota didn't see it that way! If it does have the sensor, and it's not reporting, then it would need to be looked into.

I am considering taking it to the dealership to have them tell me if the internal computer is able to display the pressure of the spare if a pressure sensing valve was added.

So far I have called the dealership and left a message for the only knowledgeable person in their shop. It is the pandemic, you know -

You could remove your cargo area carpet/styrofoam and see if there is anything under it. Mine can read the spare and has a small box right above the spare. Antman didn’t have it in his pictures after removing the carpet, but I haven’t studied anyone else’s pictures

I think that the Pro & Limited have the spare tire feature. I have the Premium and it doesn't show the spare. Looks like there's room for it on the display.
