It is radar and camera-based so it is looking for fairly solid objects. I drove mine on an old farm road with tall grass blocking parts of the road and it did not intervene. It is not designed to prevent animal collisions but it may recognize a slow-moving deer as a pedestrian. It is deactivated in 4-Lo but still active in 4-hi even though it's easy enough to turn off.Just wondering what the collective opinion on TSS-P is for off road driving? I'm mainly on old logging roads and farm roads in 4hi. Wondering if long grass in the middle of the two track or bushes sticking out from the edge would activate braking?
I understand it can be turned off each time I drive in those conditions but maybe I would buy a used 2017-2018 instead of new.
I have searched but not found much in the way of discussing how intrusive the system is or isn't.
I would definitely be a believer in it if there was good evidence it helps with car deer collisions.

My understanding was that while you can disable the lane departure alert, you can't simply disable the collision system. I have had it disabled as part of turning traction control off (which you can do with a 3 second or so hold of the traction control button while stopped), but you can only adjust sensitivity of the system in regular rear wheel drive or 4 hi driving.
Even with traction control off, it will still detect that you may hit something. It just won't apply the brakes for you.

It's simply a matter of going into the settings menu in the cluster display, choosing PCS (Pre-Collision System) and turning it off.
