The dealer doesn't really know much of what goes on at the production facility or any future releases. They barely know anything about what they sell.

If I had a dollar for every time a dealer told me "I've heard xxx model will no longer be made/discontinued/supply stopped/price increase" I'd be a rich dude, lol. They're just trying to get you to buy now...

The less production the more my 2020 is worth. Although I doubt it can go higher than the $54,360 I was just offered for it.
Back when I bought my 2018, the dealer told me that no one is buying the FRS and that they were being discontinued, also that most people were unhappy with them and that they typically were steering people towards Camry's if they wanted a sporty car. I don't think they were lying at all either, but shows just how much information they really have as a dealer.

I don't see anything online at the moment. If true, it could be due to increasing COVID numbers in Japan (they're WAY more cautious to COVID numbers than the US) or it could be the chip shortage effecting most auto manufacturers.

I don't necessarily trust dealers....but when in for service just yesterday...(not under sales pressure)

The front main lot of the dealer was was without a doubt over half empty....vacant spaces everywhere. And they only had ONE....thats right ONE new 4runner on the lot, a 2wd.
Anyways, chatting with a sales guy, he said the same thing about chip shortages.

Salesman just do not know and will say whatever is circulating through their dealership and others or in the news in order to have some type of answer to the customer. And most customers will accept the responses at face value and truth. Toyota is not being affecting due to chip shortages like other automakers. However…all supply chains for industries in general are being taxed currently. It does seem Pro’s are sitting at ports for about a month for port work before being delivered to dealers. I do not see production as being stopped, but I can see some parts being slow.

Why on earth would anyone purchase a Pro for $10k over invoice? We all know the OR is the answer....how many Pro owners in here are running their rigs bone stock? Don’t worry, I’ll wait
