22re motor swap

So new to the forum, just bought an 88 4 runner with a baked 22re motor but have an 85 and 86 for parts. Is the motor a direct swap ?

I seem to remember there being something different about the 88.
that said, the engine will swap over just fine, you just may have to swap some of the sensors over. no big deal.

I think the 89-95 engines have an updated fuel injection system than the 85-88s, but I am not completely sure.

This is an easy setup just use the intake and exhaust set ups on the 88 motor and swap the block and head

The 88 injectors are different from 85-87 and 90-95, is that what you guys are thinking of?
