22re rod knock fix

I have a rod knock. It fing sucks. Only 228k miles. Starting to think this 22re is over rated. 4,200 for a 91 truck. I could sell it for that without the knock too. Any ways
What I'm going to do
Drop the pan
Measure, look at, play with bearings
Replace bearings and/or rods

Anything else?
Any instructions?

Sarcasm right? 228k is a butt load of miles.

Download the FSM, it has the procedures for changing rod bearing. Sounds like you have a good plan already. Let us know what they look like once you get in there

Maybe a compression test before you do that? If you have bad rings you'll wanna know that before you go putting everything back together, and if your valves are bad it might be worth just yanking the whole motor so you can work on the stand.

Thanks for the guys. After driving it around I figured it defiantly was rod knock. Now no knock and overheats.

Got a line on an 86 22re for 550 with 150k. May just drop that in
