230k miles original timing belt

So what u guys think. I bought the runner a few years ago and im doing all the maintenance. The owner had no record if a belt change. So I started today and the belt had some minor cracks in it. Y'all think it's original?

My 92 car had its original 177K miles and it was cracked like the bottom of a dried out lake.

That idler has seen better days.

At 230k belt, pulleys, water pump, etc are all due replacement. I would buy a good kit, replace it all, and have some peace of mind.

Probably. I've seen one with 280k. I've never heard of a belt snapping on a 3.4 ever.

Never heard of a belt snapping under normal conditions. It's usually from the idler or water pump bearings seizing which then causes the belt to snap.

The previous owner of my 4runner put a napa brand belt on and it tore, I got very lucky it didn't snap completely as I was about 50 from home when it happened. I only knew because it was slapping the top of the timing cover.

It very well could be. I bought a 2000 with 276,000 on it and it still had the original belt. It was a 2 owner truck and neither owner said they had replaced it. The belt was cracked at every tooth and was very glazed over.
