265/65/70 vs 265/70/17 mpg difference

I'm sure this has been beat to death. And searching isn't giving me the answer I'm looking for.

I am stock height with the v8.

For those of you that have upgraded from the 65 to the 70, how much of a drop in gas mileage did you notice? Particularly on the T/A KO, I noticed that there is only about a 3lb difference in weight between the 2 sizes.

My mileage decreased by 3 mpg

I run the tires @ 32 psi, oh so comfy

Im skeptical of a 3 mpg drop from just 1" of extra tire diameter. I went from a bone stock 4runner with goodyear silent armors to 32" mud tires and a 3" lift and barely noticed a difference.

From the sounds of it, the guys with fully armored rigs on 35's see around a 5 mpg drop over stock.

This is all based on 3rd gens, but a 4th gen with a V8 will notice even less of a difference.

from 12.5L / 100km to 13.5-15L / 100km
the computer used to say I can do about 675km on a full tank with stock setup, now its just below 600km.

On my(V6). I noticed a .8-1.2 mpg difference is all. But it also did sit higher because of the new tires which I liked

The 265/70/17 are going to be slightly taller then the 265/65/17 (1"). If all other things are equal (like traction and tread pattern and composite material)...then you can calculate the gas mileage difference easily.

The 265/70/17 has a rolling circumference of 100.48"
The 265/65/17 has a circumference of 97.34"

For a difference of 3.125%. So if you're getting 20mpg with the 265/65/17 tires then you should get 20.65mpg by switching to 265/70/17....in other words...the difference is insignificant.

I lost ~2 mpg... but I didn't/haven't "corrected" my speedo.
