265/70/17 on 3rd Gen

Can I get some feedback on anyone running a 265/70/17 on stock suspension 3rd gen? I have a 2000 SR5 currently on stock 16's but will be going to the Tundra Split Spokes once I get tires. I'm leaning towards the Michelin Defender 265/70/17 but want to see if any of you guys have the same setup with any rubbing issues. They also have a 265/65/17 but the 70 series gives me a white letter option, which I like and that's why I am leaning towards the 265/70/17. I don't want to run a spacer so i'm hoping a direct bolt and fit will work.. If you have any pics to go along with your experience, please post. I don't off road but it may see some snow usage. I will be doing the 199 TBU Brake upgrade after I put the tires on.

I have those same wheels on my 2001 with stock suspension and 265/70/17 Cooper ATW's. No clearance problems at all.

I have 265/70/17's on mine and no clearance issues either. I am using the Trail Edition Pro wheels. You could go with the 231 Tundra upgrade, but your spare tire may not fit on the front if you ever need to use it.

Thanks, I thought about the 231 TBU but I read several post regarding ABS issues after the upgrade and possibility that the Master Cylinder may need to be upgraded as well. Im still pricing out parts for the 199 to see where I can get the best deal locally. I thought about ordering the Cailpers off line but if something happened to one, id hate to have to wait for a replacement vs walking into a local parts store and getting a warranty swap. Any pics of your rig with the tires?

I run 265/70/17s with Tundra 17" wheels, with stock suspension. No clearance issues ever. A spacer might actually make it worse. My sons' truck has the same tires, on 17" Koenig Countersteers. They have a more aggressive offset, and do rub slightly while turning in reverse

Thanks Brian. Appreciate the feedback. what type tire are you running on yours? The Michelin's do not have an aggressive tread pattern so I'm leaning towards no issues. No previous off road usage and very low mileage put on each year so I should be good. Its a 2000 with 111k on the clock and I have owned it for over 12 years.

I have a '96 with stock suspension at 160k running 4th gen 4runner sport wheels (17's). For tires I am running Goodyear Silent Armors in 265/70/17. I have a very slight rub at full lock, but nothing to worry about. Also, running the Tundra 231 13WL brake upgrade.

Thanks for all the replys. Think I am set with these tires to go on in the next two weeks. Now I just have to decide on Calipers and Rotors for the upgrade. Im guessing OEM rotors have much better casting and balance over generic but they don't look as good as the slotted ones. Calipers are really a big question as im leaning towards NAPA but no matter how many threads I read, none appear to be better than the other so I guess it boils down to price.
